Professional Philosophy
As a Physical Education teacher and coach, I find myself in the unique position of being able to help students develop a life-long love of physical activity and wellness. I am passionate about physical fitness and the general well being of my students and athletes. I feel that it is vital for every student to be capable to think critically and practice new skills related to their personal health. It is my responsibility to introduce students to a variety of activities that will both challenge them and provide an outlet for physical activity, individual improvement, stress reductions, and pleasure. I bring animation and character to my lessons through love of the subject matter, as well as being a role model who is open-minded, honest, caring, and respectful. Being a physical educator and coach, it is imperative that I create and foster a safe environment, both physically, socially, and emotionally, where students can learn and love to be physically active. Students and athletes must be able to explore individual movement and activity without the fear of embarrassment or failure. The creation of such an environment is of paramount importance in fostering growth of students' positive self-esteem and desire to lead an active lifestyle.
