After researching several options of wearable technology, I have concluded that the Misfit Flash would be most appropriate in my school setting. Some pros associated with the Misfit Flash are, first and foremost, the price point is highly attractive. The Misfit Flash can be purchased for just over $34, making it the most budget friendly wearable on the market. Another perk is it's long battery life. With a coin battery, much like what you see in a regular watch, the Misfit Flash does not require constant recharging. The battery can last up to a year, which is ideal for any Physical Education budget. While the main use of this technology is a pedometer, the Misfit Flash can be synced with any Android or IOS device. I could simply upload data for an entire class onto my cell phone and translate that data into a document to track the progress of my students. Another outstanding quality of the Misfit Flash is it's capabilities underwater. I also teach swim classes, making this an ideal wearable for tracking student performance during swim. Unfortunately, one major downside to the Misfit Flash is the lack of heart rate tracking. This technology will detect mileage and calories burned, but falls short when measuring student heart rate. Overall, I would love to have my class utilize this wearable technology. Perhaps a grant may cover the financial burden of bulk ordering the Misfit Flash!
