I am a huge advocate for collaboration. The use of wikis in the classroom environment establishes an inclusive atmosphere. It places value on the individual's contribution to the class project or assignment. Depending on the instructor's criteria for submission, each of your classes will have their own separate wiki space. In addition to just class collaboration, a wiki page can be created where multiple classes, learning the same concepts, can cross reflect, constructing a digital portfolio.
As a professional in education, I have been using Google Docs throughout the academic 2014-2015 school year. I find Google Docs and wikis to be very similar in their collaborative efforts. Once the document has been created, any individual that the author shares it with, can be given editing rights. Thus, mirroring the same benefits of a wiki. Most of my work with Google Docs has been sharing practice plans with my assistant coaches, developing unit plans with colleagues that teach the same grade levels, and creating and updating athletic calendars.
